August 29, reminds us the day to be proud of, the day when National Sports Day is celebrated. But why do we celebrate this day? It was 1905, India’s pride, our great hockey player Major Dhyan Chand was born on that day. This day is remarkable as the birthday of Major Dhyan Chand Singh, our famous hockey player, who brought gold medals in Olympics for India in the years 1928, 1932, and 1936.

4. Lovlina Borgohain: The Girl With Strong Hit
Lovlina Borgohain became the third Indian boxer to ensure a final stage fight at the Olympic Games after Vijender Singh and Mary Kom as she defeated Chinese Taipei’s Nien-Chin Chen in the quarter-finals and assure her bronze medal. Though in the semi-final, she suffered a 0-5 loss to the world champion Busenaz Surmeneli but finally regained her strength and return home with the bronze. 5. Ravi Kumar Dahiya: The Silver Wrestler
Ravi Kumar Dahia, a 23 years old wrestler, became the second Indian debutant to win a medal at the Tokyo Olympics, 2021. Challenging Russian Zavur Uguev in the men’s 57kg freestyle wrestling, Dahiya lost the gold medal and finalized silver and became the seventh Indian to become a silver medalist at the Olympics in an individual event. Ravi Dahiya was leading on 0-2 in the first round just before he bounced back to catch the score but the round ended with Uguev ahead 4-2. Uguev then competed to a 7-2 lead before Dahiya fought back with 2 more points but couldn't make up the 3-point shortage in the end and lost the fight, but he did not give up the tough fight against the Russian opponent even for a second.
He is the second wonder to bring India a silver medal and the fifth medal in total at the Tokyo Olympics.
6. Bajrang Punia: The Champ Of Wrestling
The Champion Wrestler Bajrang Punia, also in his debutant, beat Kazakhstan’s Daulet Niyazbekov in the men’s 65kg freestyle wrestling semi-final to claim the bronze medal. Bajrang beat Daulet Niyazbekov to 8-0 to win the bronze medal. The great wrestler Bajrang kept to a measured approach in the first period of the match, and he scored the first point on an inactive penalty against Niyazbekov. Daulet Niyazbekov tried to make up the shortfall and even almost had Punia on the backfoot for a while, but till the end, he couldn't get through the Indian's defense. In the end, Punia pushed Niyazbekov out of boundaries and score his second point.
Bajrang Punia was India’s sixth medalist of the 2021 Tokyo Olympics and the person who made India feel proud.
7. India’s Pride: The Men’s Hockey Team
Like in Chak de India, also, in reality, India’s hockey teams were starving for an Olympic medal, since winning the gold medal in the 1980 Moscow Games, but finally, in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, India’s Men’s Hockey made history after long 41 years. Finally, the Indian Men’s hockey team claimed the bronze medal after beating Germany by 5-4 in a breathtaking match. The amazing Men’s hockey team was the fifth medalist from India at Tokyo 2020 Games.
Indian Men Hockey team captain Manpreet Singh led India from the beginning and they started their match with a joyous victory with 3-2 defeating New Zealand but then suffered a 7-1 defeat by the strong Australian team in their second match. But they were very determined this year and they quickly made up the defeat. They proceed with their team fight, and finally, they beating Great Britain by 3-1 in the quarterfinal and enter the semi-finals for the first time since 1972. Again, bad luck crushed them against Belgium and leave them in a danger zone for the fight for the bronze, but finally, the team secured their first medal in decades in a remarkable way, taking the full turn from 1-3 they take the lead by 5-4 and win over Germany.
