Steve Ballmer is an American businessman who is the current owner of the Los Angeles Clippers of the National Basketball Association and the former CEO of Microsoft. Steve Ballmer Early Life
Steve Ballmer was born on March 24, 1956, in Detroit, Michigan, to Frederic Henry Ballmer and Beatrice Dworkin. Shelly is his only sibling. His father was a powerful executive at Ford Motor Company. At such a young age, Steve Ballmer has had a prosperous life.
He grew up in Farmington Hills, Michigan, and attended Detroit Country Day School, a private college preparatory school in Beverly Hills, Michigan. During his high school years, he took advanced college prep courses at Lawrence Technological University. He graduated from Detroit Country Day School as valedictorian.He went on to Harvard University, where he met and befriended Bill Gates. Ballmer dropped out of Stanford Graduate School of Business on June 11, 1980, after a brief artistic period writing screenplays in Hollywood, to accept an offer from Bill Gates to join Microsoft as the company's 30th employee. Gates hired him as his first business manager.
8% Stock Holder
Ballmer was instrumental in reorganising Microsoft after its incorporation in 1981. As part of the stock creation process, he received 8% of the company's holdings. He held on to all of his shares until 2003, when he sold 39.3 million of them. It reduced his share of the company to 4%, which he still owns today.
Operating System Development Head in the 1980s
