Sony is back in the game with Sony Xperia 1 IV

Sony's classic Xperia camera phone has returned, and it's better than ever. The new Xperia 1 IV has a 4K display and one of the most intriguing camera setups with one-of-a-kind continuous optical zoom on top of Qualcomm's most powerful Snapdragon processor. All of this is wrapped up in one of the most fashionable designs on the market today.

Sony's design consistency has been maintained, and the Xperia 1 IV retains the famous Xperia shape. For on-the-go photography, a water-resistant smartphone with a solid grip is recommended. This has always been the situation for the last few years. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset has been enhanced, and 4K 120Hz HDR OLED is here to stay.

A larger battery, better speakers with more bass, and a revamped rear panel with Gorilla Glass Victus are among the other major enhancements.

Most folks will start with the two necessary modifications to the camera. A 12MP primary camera, a 12MP telephoto camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a ToF camera remain. However, the zoom camera now delivers stepless continuous optical zoom between 85mm and 125mm (3.5x - 5.2x over the primary 24mm camera). The Nokia N93 and Samsung Galaxy K Zoom aren't the first cellphones to offer continuous optical zoom, but it has been a long time.

All rear cameras now have SteadyShot with FlawlessEye, Eye AF, and Real-Time Object Tracking. For both SDR and HDR films, real-time multi-frame stacking can provide a wide dynamic range.

Let's have a look at the details right now.

The Sony Xperia 1 IV characteristics at a glance

• Fast charging 30W, 50% in 30 minutes (advertised), Fast wireless charging, Reverse wireless charging, USB Power Delivery; battery: 5000mAh

• The Sony Xperia 1 IV, if anything, is missing in features. It has all of the standard Sony extras, including a 3.5mm audio connector, MicroSD slot, hardware two-step shutter, and other Sony extras. Additional gaming features include 120Hz HRR support, 240Hz blur reduction, and game streaming capabilities.

•Bravia Core has arrived in the Xperia world, and if you already own one, you can now use it on your phone.

• A new Music Pro premium service for recording singing and/or instruments and processing them in the cloud for studio-like quality is also available. Nothing is perfect, and there is one major fault...

• What's Inside The Sony Xperia 1 IV Box?

• That's a charger, right there. There's even a cable! Sony has taken the Apple, sorry, environmentally friendly path by removing the charger and connector from the packaging. As a result, the Xperia 1 IV arrives in a paper box that is exceptionally thin.

• The Sony Xperia 1 IV supports up to 30W USB-PD fast charging, and if you don't have one, you'll have to pay an extra €50 for Sony's 30W XQZ-UC1 charger pack on top of the phone's €1400 price tag.

• Sony Xperia 1 IV Screen (4K 120Hz HDR OLED)

• Like the Xperia 1 III and Xperia Pro-I, the Sony Xperia 1 IV has a better OLED display. It's a 6.5-inch OLED with a 3,840 x 1,644 pixel resolution, or 4K in common parlance. This results in an incredibly sharp density of 643ppi. And there isn't even a cutout!

•The 4K resolution isn't always on because it causes issues on both the hardware (battery depletion) and software (incompatible apps) levels. The Xperia 1 IV, like other Sony 4K phones, is reported to render at extended Full HD resolution (2,560 x 1,096 px). The entire 4K resolution is used by multimedia tools like Photos and video playback.
