It commemorates the death of a Catholic saint named St. Nicholas, who donated all of his wealth to the poor. Santa Claus, often known as the Christmas Father, is thought to be a modernised version of St. Nicholas. This celebration is well-known in Greece and Russia's tiny towns and villages. People share little gifts such as chocolates and candles on this day. Little children leave carrots in their shoes, believing that St Nicholas will collect them and leave gifts in them.
Hanukkah or Chanukah is a Hebrew word that signifies 'dedication.' From the 28th of November through the 6th of December, Jews celebrate it. It reaffirms Judaism's teachings. Every year, people commemorate the rededication of Jerusalem's Second Temple by lighting a candle every day! This is accomplished through the employment of a 'Menorah'! A Menorah is a candle holder with seven or nine candles that was used in an ancient Jerusalem temple. It is now regarded as a symbol of Judaism. During the lighting of the candles, they chant Judaic Blessings.
St. Lucia Day is a major holiday in Sweden, Norway, and parts of Finland where the Swedish language is spoken. It is commemorated on December 13th in honour of St. Lucy! She was a compassionate soul who cared about the people's well-being. The girls wear traditional clothing and wreaths with candles on their hair on this day. In the midst of the long, gloomy winter season, this winter festival 2022 spreads brightness. The Winter Solstice is observed from December 20th to December 23rd. In the north, it is the shortest day, whereas in the south, it is the longest. People build bonfires and candles to commemorate this day. They want to entice the sun to return. They are very excited to go ice skating and skiing and get into the holiday spirit!
So, here we are at Christmas! Christmas is the most wonderful of all holidays! It is, as we all know, a Christian celebration commemorating the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ. It's a joyful occasion marked by church services, Christmas dinners, hymns, get-togethers, and Christmas cakes! It's that time of year when the elderly and youngsters alike look forward to Santa Claus bringing them gifts! Christmas Day is widely observed, not just by Christians, but by people from all walks of life!
Kwanzaa– Kwanzaa, which takes place on December 26th, is an African American holiday that lasts for a week. The Swahili phrase "Matunda ya Kwanzaa," which means "First Fruits," inspired Kwanzaa. During this time, people enjoy the harvest season. Africans dress in traditional attire and utilise vegetables and fruits to decorate their homes. As a symbol of kindness, they light a Kinara (a candle holder).
New Year's Eve - Another fantastic element of December Global Holidays 22 is New Year's Eve. We say good-bye to the year and welcome the New Year on the night of December 31st! Parties, get-togethers, song and dance performances, and bonfires are all part of the event! New resolutions are made by the people.
