First International Yoga Day

Prime Minister NarendraModi suggested a 'Yoga Day,' or 'Yoga Divas, during his speech before the United Nations General Assembly in September 2014. Record 177 member countries approved India's draught resolution. The first International Day of Yoga was celebrated on June 21, 2015.

Nearly 36,000 people including Prime Minister Modi and other prominent public figures from around the globe performed 21 asanas (yoga poses) for 35 minutes in Delhi, India, to mark the first International Yoga Day.
