Azim Premji is an Indian IT industry pillar. He is responsible for diversifying Wipro which started as a producer of vegetable and refined oils in Amalner (Maharashtra's district Jalgaon). At just 21 years of age, the 76-year old business magnate assumed command and shared many of his lessons with India's youth. Here are ten lessons for entrepreneurs that we have compiled.
Azim Premji owns a staggering net worth of US $10.5 billion! He is one the most visionaries and has made a significant impact on the world.
Azim Premji Foundation
The Azim Prmji Foundation, a non-profit organisation, has been supporting the elementary education system of rural government schools in rural areas since 2000.
The Foundation started by implementing programs that aimed to improve educational quality in the country. It became clear, however, that simply working in a project-oriented manner was not sufficient and that deep-rooted changes require a continuous effort over many years. This is possible only by creating "institutions" that are embedded within the local context and can work with local government structures.
Our fate is determined solely by
There are many reasons why we fail, such as lack of effort and lack of education. As the old saying goes, "Where there's will there's way." Although life is filled with challenges, you are the only person who can determine your future and the course you choose. Premji was 21 when his father died. He had to leave Stanford in order to run his family's business. He refused to give up on the unknowns of the future and took up the trade.
To achieve our happiness
Remember that a penny earned can be worth more than five pennies. It doesn't matter if it was inherited or gifted. If we work hard for it, we only can appreciate the value of the one that we have.
Recognizing our potential
It is important to always appreciate the positive aspects within ourselves. Every person has some kind of strength. To achieve our goals, we must recognize these strengths and make use of them. While it is important to recognize our weaknesses, it's just as important to recognize our strengths. Look for opportunities and be foresighted - The world around you is always changing and it's important to be able to spot these changes. Every shift offers new opportunities that we need to seize before someone else does. Never lose the chance! It can be taken by someone else.
Keep your feet on the ground
Entrepreneurs have the potential to succeed. It's important not to let your success overwhelm you. Premji says the same. Premji has always advised young entrepreneurs to keep their feet on the ground because success can easily get into their heads. He also stressed the fact that failure is an achievement and not a curse. Remember to learn from your mistakes and move on!
Keep your values close to you
He believes that the core values of a company should guide its decisions. Premji believes that if you hold true to your ideals, then success will naturally follow. Premji believes that being true to your values and not changing them in any circumstance will make you more resilient in the face of hardship. This is something that many entrepreneurs admire.
Do not react, but respond
There is a world between success and failure. The difference is that the mind intervenes during the process of reacting and responding. We respond calmly to the situation and take the best action. All of our actions are within our control. When we react, we are still doing the things that another person wants us to do.
Contribute to the community
Each of us has a societal obligation to contribute to these issues. Out of all the obstacles, education is my most important. We have rare jobs, but we also have poverty and widespread unemployment. It is essential to offer universal, high-quality education to bridge these two poles.
In his own words
"It is important that we accept them and find common ground to work together. Negative people focus only on their differences. It would be so empowering for the nation to focus on common causes. Discussion and dialogue are the only way to resolve differences or divergences of opinions.
Continuous improvement
No matter how rich or poor we may be, we should always strive for improvement. This will allow us to increase our productivity and efficiency. It is foolish to assume that the approach or method that yields the best results is the best, and that there are no alternatives.
Play to Win
Honesty is not a prerequisite for winning. We bring out the best of ourselves and our teams when we play to win. It inspires us to push ourselves to achieve what seems impossible. It's about striving for the top, a desire to succeed, and a determination to be the best. It's not about getting a competitive edge at the expense of others.
