 Five Remarkable Achievements of Gandhi

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi or commonly known as Gandhi, is a tall Indian figure that still lives in India's consciousness. It would be like saying that the sky is blue and not stating the reason. The contribution of Gandhi to the Indian Independence movement was immense. He mobilized the entire nation and would go on the lead the greatest independent struggle in history. India's victory over the British Raj is a heroic act of resistance that has been almost a global symbol. This is why Gandhi's name has been ingrained in the minds of Indians and their citizens. Although India's independence is credited to many brave freedom fighters like B.R. Gandhi, Bhagat Singh and Subhash Chandra Bose are all credit for India's independence, but it was Gandhi who lit the fire.

Gandhi, who went to South Africa to be a barrister, returned to India with a new perspective. Gandhi had been exposed to a lot racism in South Africa and led a small movement to combat it. He realized this as thunder. He realized that he could do it in another country. Now he wanted to go back home and break the chains of the British. He was gone. Gandhi quickly became a national icon and mobilized Indians for non-violent resistance to the British. This was achieved through numerous marches, hunger strikes and public protests. Gandhi, today, is a symbol for non-violence around the globe and has inspired many great politicians and activists like Martin Luther King Jr.

We celebrate the 152th birthday of the man this year.
