Trade and business began in India in the wake of the growth of international routes to achieve trade goals. India became a part of the abutting nations outside the street-roots of the network, which eventually led towards an area known as the Silk Route. The maritime route connecting India and the other countries was called"the Spice route.

The Indian archaeological evidence has proven that entrepreneurialism had begun at the beginning of the ancient India. The trading culture mostly developed through the Harrapan civilization created the commercial link to Mesopotamia society. They exchanged their hand-crafted products. Things like toys, pots tools, and even corps, to meet their needs in the day. The Harrapans period was characterized as business and commercial activities in India. They have also regulated a number of transactions, various types of coin , and also handcrafted metals, both as export and import products. Following this, people transported the metals to international and national countries and faith in their entrepreneurship.

Industrialization was been initiated with the East India Company in 1673 in India. The Britishers were the ones responsible to introduce industries in India. They arrived in India to conduct business during the 19th century and industrial progress took place during the latter half of 20th century. It was mostly, the private sector which was created through the British. The industrial areas are located situated in the east and west regions of India. It was the East India Company played a major role in the growth of industry and also the quality of trade exports and import of goods at an international scale. It triggered a variety of social and political movements, including The Swadeshi Campaign. Manufacturing-related entrepreneurship, according to famous Indian academics is a direct consequence of the emergence from East India companies in India.
