International Day Of Democracy 2022: Promote Democratic Values Around The World

The International Day of Democracy on September 15 allows us to celebrate and appreciate our democratic society. Individuals who live in free societies are able to take their freedoms as a given. We should be grateful to those who have helped us build our government and then look for opportunities to promote and protect our democracy.

A democracy is a state where citizens are allowed to participate in decision-making for their country and is not controlled by the government. It is closely linked to human right. Democracy means that all citizens have the right and ability to vote, participate in elections, and not be controlled by a government.

Democracies are essential for a safe and peaceful society. Life can be fraught with incomprehensible difficulties without democracy. In a free society, people may view their freedoms as a given. Many people still dream of democracy in many places around the globe. This year's Democracy Day will focus on media freedom and democracy. It will also highlight peace and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

HISTORY OF THE INTERNATIONAL DEMOCRACY

The United Nations General Assembly (UN) decided in 2007 that September 15 would be the International Day of Democracy. This day is intended to encourage government participation in maintaining open democratic governance among all UN Charter country members. It celebrates the democratic system that citizens have the right to decide all aspects of their lives.

The UN's mission is to support democratic societies around the world. It serves many purposes including monitoring elections and strengthening democratic institution.

Democracy is built on citizens' participation in its decision-making process. This was true since ancient Greece thousands years ago. This can only be achieved if all citizens have the right to vote regardless of race, gender, or other factors. A democratic society is only possible if there is inclusion and equality. In America , we have a representative democracy. This means we elect representatives to represent our collective votes on decisions.

Reflection about your freedoms and the state of democracy in the country can help you identify how you are involved in collective decisions-making.

Aristotle wrote extensively about various types of government, including democracy to help determine which was the most effective. These writings were influential in the development and evolution of modern democracy.

International Day is a time to reflect on democracy around the world. Every year, a different theme is chosen. The themes have included stronger democracies, democracy for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and democracy for the future. These themes also emphasize the importance of citizens' voices, dialogue, inclusion, accountability and political tolerance, as well as accountability.

How to observe International Day of Democracy

Individuals and organisations can collaborate to assess democracy and to organize events to raise awareness about democracy. These events may include discussion, leaflet distribution, and social media campaigns. Each year, the United Nations suggests a theme for the International Day of Democracy.

WHY WE LOVE INTERNATIONAL DEMOCRACY HOLIDAY

1.       It Gives People Power
Democracy gives citizens the power to speak out and empowers them to take their own decisions. This type of government allows for the development of new economic theories, which ultimately leads to improvement and innovation.

2.       It is based on the concept of change
Democracies are founded on the belief that citizens can change their circumstances whenever they need. Citizens can keep the status quo if things are going smoothly. If things don't go as planned, citizens can remove the old and make room for the new.

3.       It Is based on equality
In the founding documents of democracy, equality was a major focus. No matter what your status is or who you may be, one person can vote. Although this idea was not popular over the centuries, it is central to democratic governments.

"Liberty of a democracy cannot be secured if people allow the growth of private power until it is stronger than the democratic government." This is what fascism looks like: an individual or group owns government, or any controlling private power. Franklin D. Roosevelt.
